Frances Kissling is a visiting fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, Center for Bioethics, and in this capacity she is doing research on current controversies in abortion policies. She is a weekly columnist covering religion, reproduction and politics for Salon.com. She also blogs for religiondispatches.org. Kissling, who was dubbed the “philosopher of the prochoice movement” by syndicated columnist Ellen Goodman was president of Catholics for Choice until her retirement in 2007. She serves on the advisory boards of the Journal of Feminist Ethics and the Women’s Bioethics Project. She is also a consultant to the Western Hemisphere Region of the International Planned Parenthood Federation where she develops and conducts values clarification workshops for doctors and nurses working on reproductive health in Latin America.
